About this test

Pelvic ultrasound examines pelvic organs. In females, it evaluates the uterus and ovaries; in males, it can evaluate the urinary bladder and prostate depending on the examination requested.

Preparation

For transabdominal pelvic USG: Full bladder is usually required. Drink water before the examination. Do not urinate until instructed. For transvaginal ultrasound, preparation is different and the bladder is generally emptied.
